Thinking Big: Secret #2

wellness Jan 01, 2018

By A. Yanina Gomez, Ph.D.

Did you take some time this past week to create a mental picture of your goal? Remember, having a vivid and clear idea of where you want your business to be (or where YOU want to be) is the first step to thinking big!

As a reminder, last week’s questions were:
1. What do you want for your business?
2. What do you want to see happening in your business in the next 6 months?

As I’ve mentioned before, we set a barrier by the way we think about ourselves which is why you have to aim for the top, think big!

This week’s secret is… Why Do I Want to Do This?

Sometimes we are so busy with our lives and working so hard to grow our businesses that, we forget the reasons why we decided to make art or start our own business in the first place. As a result, our efforts become a tedious, boring routine. And, if you’re like me, routines can kill my inner-fire in no time. That’s why it’s important that you take some time to remind yourself about your first love.

My first suggestion is… write down all reasons why you want to accomplish this goal for you or your art business.

As you know, in addition to Art NXT Level, I have the Fabulously Driven Me Community, a mindset and emotional wellness support system for today’s women entrepreneurs. So, I’m going to share some examples based on this business. So, in my case, for a while, I’ve was dreaming about creating a community where fabulously driven women willingly help one another achieve their dreams. You and I know the challenges we experience as we grow our business. Many of us do not get the support we would like. And, unfortunately, some women tend to compete against each other instead of supporting and mentoring one another through this journey.

So, I’ve been dreaming about a community in which I can help women entrepreneurs own a stronger and healthier mindset and also overcome the emotional pitfalls that often come along with growing your own business. A community where we care for each other authentically and grow stronger together. That alone totally ignited me.

My second suggestion is… write down a list of possible consequences should you choose not to pursue your art business.

In my case, if I didn’t create this platform that was so clear and vivid in my head, I would’ve not used the gifts that God gave me to make a difference in the lives of fellow women entrepreneurs who are experiencing what I experienced in my journey towards making my dream a reality. I will also have to go back to my 9-5 job, and that alone, will drain my emotional and mental energy in such a negative way.I will live with so much regret as I think about all the amazing women who could’ve benefited from my insight because I decided this dream was too much to handle. And the list goes on.

THE BOTTOMLINE IS… You have to be connected to your “why.” Your “why” will become the fuel you’ll need, especially when the going gets though.
